sps_blonde.jpgOkay, that title is gross, I know. But the review requirement said to tell you about a time when I really could have used some dry shampoo, and what immediately sprung to mind was this one time? At band camp?

I’m SERIOUS! I spent two weeks of every summer from sixth grade through eleventh grade going to performing arts camp, first Blue Lake and then Interlochen. The summer after seventh grade, I was at Blue Lake along with my best friend JoLynne, and we were seriously boy-crazy. When we woke up in our cabin each morning, our first thought was how quickly we could get down to breakfast so we could start flirting with the cute trumpet-playing boys (the trumpet players were always the cutest). We both had long hair and bangs, and more often than not we would pull our hair back and just wash our bangs in the sink. I know, gross. I had never even heard of dry shampoo back then!

Not only that, but I had no idea that you could get dry shampoo to match your hair color. Salon Grafix has it in brunette, blonde, black, and silver, and unlike sprinkling your hair with baby powder (oh come on, you’ve done that, right?), dry shampoo doesn’t leave a powdery residue in your hair. Other benefits of dry shampoo? Hair that is revitalized, clean, and shiny, not oily and gross, like mine was at camp. The boys I was making out with didn’t care what my hair looked like! (Yes, I said boys. Plural. I was the queen of camp hook-ups. Oh, those sweet, innocent days.)

So now I’m an adult, but there are still days where I just do not feel like washing my hair. Dry shampoo would come in handy for those times when the phone rings and it’s one of the boys saying “Mom, I forget my violin/my homework folder/my tennis shoes, could you bring them to me at school?”

And once again, I have long hair and bangs! Do you think I’m trying to relive seventh grade? Hmm. Wonder where I could find a trumpet player to make out with?
